The November 2024 WIL intakes

At JDR Software, we believe that fresh perspectives and new ideas are the lifeblood of innovation. Our November 2024 WIL (Work Integrated Learning) participants are Vincent Daniele, Alisha Gollen and Ayesha Rana.

That’s why we’re so excited to have these interns bring their unique talents and enthusiasm to our workplace. Whether it’s brainstorming creative solutions, contributing to exciting projects, or learning alongside our seasoned professionals, we’re confident that this internship will be a valuable experience.

JDR Software intern, Vincent

We’re thrilled to welcome Vincent to the JDR Software family! As one of our newest interns, Vincent will be joining the Allocate Plus team. He’ll be working on quality assurance and testing the new and improved features that are earmarked for our next release.

Vincent is a fourth-year Software Engineering student at RMIT University, doing a minor in Artificial Intelligence. He developed a strong interest in testing, as it’s an area he wasn’t heavily exposed to during university studies. Through this internship, Vincent hope’s to gain both the technical and networking skills required for a successful career in the industry.

I think we need to watch out for Vincent at our next Social Club event. He played video games professionally for four years and now commentates on them! If he teams up with other staff here who adjudicate games in their spare time the rest of the office will have no chance!

We’re excited to see how Vincent’s contributions will make an impact at JDR Software.

Alisha

JDR Software intern, Alisha

We’re thrilled to welcome Alisha to JDR Software as part of her Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement! Alisha comes to us from Swinburne University, where she’s pursuing a double degree in Engineering (Software) and Science (Physics). She’s also an active member of the Swinburne Physics and Outer-space Club, reflecting her passion for space and astronomy.

During her time with us, Alisha is eager to:

  • Gain hands-on experience with software testing.
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, and other team members to understand how testing integrates into the broader scope of software development.
  • Build a solid foundation in testing to support her aspirations of becoming a software developer.
  • Explore how JDR Software manages complex systems like timetabling and resource booking.

Alisha’s fascination with space and technology drives her ultimate goal of contributing to advancements in space exploration. A field she’s deeply passionate about. Her unique background and enthusiasm are sure to bring fresh perspectives to the Allocate Plus team, where she’ll be making valuable contributions. Who knows – maybe we have the next Margaret Hamilton working with us??!!

Ayesha
Ayesha, JDR Software intern.

Ayesha, JDR Software intern.

Finally we’re delighted to welcome Ayesha to JDR Software! Ayesha is a third-year Computer Science student at Deakin University, majoring in Data Science. She’s also the co-founder of the Women in STEM Society at Deakin, where she’s been a passionate advocate for empowering women in technology and science. It’s anew club, in which Ayesha is a key member driving it’s growth from concept to reality.

Ayesha has a keen interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence, which she plans to pursue in her future career. During her time at JDR, she’s excited to step out of her comfort zone and connect with new people.  It’s something, we’re very pleased to hear, she’s finding easier thanks to the welcoming and supportive environment here at JDR Software.

Who would have thought Ayesha’s love for true crime podcasts could give her a leg up in the world of testing?! But it has given her a sharp eye for detail and a knack for analysing patterns. Qualities that are proving invaluable as she explores the intricacies of software testing. By uncovering “mysteries” within code and ensuring everything runs smoothly, Ayesha is already making an impact.

Fun fact: the very first day she landed in Melbourne, she went straight from the airport to a Harry Styles concert! Her ability to schedule and plan with such precision mirrors the challenges we face in timetabling and resource management here at JDR Software.

The JDR Software team wish Vincent, Alisha and Ayesha every success during their November 2024 WIL placement here with us.

We regularly offer WIL positions to high-achieving, enthusiastic, motivated students in their final year of study. Keep an eye on our news stories to see who we have joining us next.
